Description
HU-210 (11-hydroxy- Δ8- tetrahydrocannabinol or 1,1-dimethylheptyl- 11-hydroxytetrahydrocannabinol) is a synthetic cannabinoid synthesized from (1R,5S)-mortenol in 1988 at Hebrew University under the direction of Raphael Mechoulam. HU-210 has cannabinoid potency 100-800 times higher than natural THC (binding affinity 0.061 nM to CB1 and 0.52 nM to CB2) and has longer lasting effects.
It is also noted that HU-210 has anti-anxiety and anti-depression effects, is a good analgesic and can be used to treat Alzheimer’s disease (caused by amyloid beta-proteins), acts as an anti-inflammatory, and causes activation of cannabinoid receptors.
Structurally, HU-210 (has almost all the cannabinoid activity) is an enantiomer of HU-211 (inactive as a cannabinoid).
This drug is prohibited for sale in New Zealand, USA (Vermont, Florida) and is not listed in the schedules of the United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.
The drug is poorly studied and little data is available on its pharmacological and toxicological properties and is intended for research and testing in specially equipped laboratories.
