Studies in mice have shown that Imidazenil can cause anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects, blocks the sedative effect of diazepam, and acts more as an antidote than the antagonist flumazenil and was developed as a drug for the treatment of benzodiazepine overdose, as well as in the treatment of organophosphate nerve agent poisoning and can be considered as a new treatment for schizophrenia.
It was also found that Imidazenil is easily tolerated and less prone to dependence with regular use, unlike diazepam, bretazenil.
