3-Hydroxyeticyclidine (also called 3-HO-PCE) is a dissociative substance of the arylcyclohexylamine class, the structural analogue of 3-HO-PCP, which has dissociative and euphoric properties.
3-HO-PCE is the homologue of 3-MeO-PCE, consisting of a cyclohexane, a saturated ring connected with two groups on R1, the first is an ethyl chain with a nitrogen group, the second is a phenyl ring substituted on R3 with a hydroxy group.
This substance is an actinic NMDA receptor agonist, which produces a dissociative effect and analgesia. 3-HO-PCE leads to effects and conditions such as stimulation, sedation, euphoria, pain relief at higher dosages, disorientation, changes in center of gravity, increased sweating, increased blood pressure. Dissociative effects are less pronounced than with ketamine and MXE.
Regular use may lead to addiction and withdrawal symptoms following withdrawal from 3-HO-PCE. The development of tolerance while taking the substance is formed with repeated use, which leads to a constant increase in the dosage. Side effects such as vomiting and respiratory depression are possible at high dosages.
